Ink as Prayer
Writing the light within
祈りとしての墨
内なる光を書く
When I return to stillness,
words take form as ink.
A light that glows within
the breath of prayer
the presence of harmony
Since childhood, I have held a brush
and walked my path alongside calligraphy.
My years as a registered dietitian and therapist,
spent close to people’s hearts and bodies,
have nurtured a sensitivity
to receive what cannot be seen.
Through my experience creating goshuin,
I have met people from around the world
who find their way to Japanese culture,
and have come to deeply feel
the quiet, prayerful power of calligraphy.
Entrusting unseen feelings to the brush,
I continue to write.
Calligraphy is
a form of prayer
that connects heart to heart.
Carrying the beauty and spirit of Japan,
I quietly share them with the world.
